Oink Ink Radio Inc. (http://www.oinkradio.com) has been tapped to produce three radio spots for Norman Lear?s Declare Yourself (http://www.declareyourself.com) voter campaign. Declare Yourself is a national nonpartisan, nonprofit campaign dedicated to energizing and empowering a new movement of young voters to participate in the 2004 presidential election.
Beginning August 16 through Election Day 2004, Clear Channel, a sponsor of the campaign, will run the Oink Ink Radio-created and produced spots in its Top 20 national markets. The central message of the three spots, which are named ?Conspiracy,? ?Airhead,? and ?Stoner,? is that there are people who speak up who have controversial opinions, shouldn?t you (and your ?sane? opinion) speak up and be heard. The featured characters are not afraid to speak out; therefore, you the voter should make the effort to as well.
All three spots were produced by Michael ?Feeve? LeFevre, Executive Producer and head of Oink Ink Radio?s Los Angeles office, based in Santa Monica. LeFevre had the opportunity to work directly with Norman Lear on these spots and had this to say about the Declare Yourself project, ?These are some intense radio concepts, all revolving around Freedom of Speech. The point of this campaign is that if some crazy person is willing to abuse his or her freedom of speech, why are you -- the listener, the voter -- willing to give away your vote? Everyone should exercise their right to freedom of speech by going out and voting.? LeFevre added that working on these spots with Norman Lear was quite a treat. ?All three of the spots use humor to get across a very serious message. That's just classic Norman Lear. That's what he does. That's what he's always done. Makes sense that he's doing it for this, too.?
The three spots were recorded at Oink Ink Radio?s Los Angeles production facility.
